Activities in and around Kalkan
Beach Clubs
Although the small shingle beach next to Kalkan harbour is clean and more than adequate for swimming and sunbathing, there are a number of beach clubs around Kalkan bay.
Set in stunning surroundings these clubs are rock platforms and terraces cut into the hillside at the waters edge with the lower terraces having steps into the sea.
These platforms and terraces are on a number of levels so you never have to share your chosen spot with too many other visitors.
Sun loungers and parasols are provided as well as showers and W.C.s. All beach clubs provide a first class drinks and bar service as well as excellent restaurants.
Swimming and snorkelling in these crystal clear waters and observing the abundance of marine life can be a great experience. But for the more adventurous, water sports are available for a small local charge.
Most beach clubs offer a free taxi or minibus service to and from your accommodation.
Fethiye
The largest working town in the region with a bustling market and a casbah style shopping area in the old town.
A variety of restaurants and bars overlook the marina where daily boat trips will take you around the bay and its twelve islands.
Carved into the limestone cliffs behind the town you will find rock tombs dating back to 4th Century BC.
Olu Deniz
Pick up any brochure about Turkey and you will always see a photograph of the vast beach and beautiful lagoon at Olu Deniz. Most of the beach front where a number of cafes, shops and bars can be found is a traffic free zone.
Paragliding in Olu Deniz
For the experience of a lifetime try a paragliding jump in tandem with a qualified instructor. As you leave the 2000 metre high mountain you will find yourself soaring above the bay taking in the breathtaking views of the lagoon before gently gliding down to the beach.
