Activities in and around Kalkan
Kas
The road from Kalkan to Kas has been carved out of the almost sheer mountains as they meet the turquoise sea. Although only taking 30 minutes it's a memorable journey.
This attractive harbour town which comes alive at night is more cosmopolitan than its neighbour Kalkan.
Behind the harbour is a good selection of restaurants, shops and bars.
Kas also boasts various ancient sites from Lycian rock tombs to a small almost complete Hellenistic theatre.
Mountain Villages
Driving up into the mountains behind Kalkan and travelling through stunning scenery you will come across an almost Shangri-La type fertile plain that was once a prehistoric lake. Amongst the fields and orchards is the village of Bezirgan. Here you will find the real Turkey.
As you continue your journey through the mountains the settlement of Islamlar with its traditional water mill and nearby trout farms is well worth a stopover.
