Shopping in Kalkan
If you wander round the Aladdin's caves that line the steep narrow cobbled alleyways you will find little carpet bazaars and traditional jewellery shops where beautiful pieces are made to measure in gold, silver, amber and turquoise. You can even design a piece yourself.
Kalkan is full of exquisite boutiques and colourful local craft shops that sell ceramics, glassware and hand made cushion covers.
On hot days while browsing round a shop don't be surprised if a friendly shop owner offers you a cool drink or a traditional apple tea.
A market is also held every Thursday where anything from t-shirts, jeans, spices and hand made linen can be bought. Haggling is expected and all part of the fun but be realistic with reductions and serious about your intention to buy.
